About Scott

Scott Peebles is licensed to practice law in both Louisiana and California. He has successfully settled hundreds of cases for clients, tried over 40 jury trials to verdict, and drafted and argued more than 60 writs and appeals, including 12 appearances in state Supreme Court and two in the U.S. Fifth Circuit Court of Appeals.
In his spare time, Scott enjoys spending time with his family and friends, working out, hiking, playing softball, and reading.
LOUISIANA & CALIFORNIA (2026)
In 2026, Scott launched his own law firm – Peebles Law Offices. He represents people with injuries, people with property insurance disputes, and people who have disputes with their employer. He considers representing any person who has been unjustly harmed and needs his help.
LOUISIANA & CALIFORNIA (2003-2025)
In 2003 after serving as an Assistant District Attorney in New Orleans, Scott developed a distinguished civil litigation and trial record over 20 years in both Louisiana and California. He has made recoveries for hundreds of people injured due to the recklessness or negligence of others, people injured from the dangerous products of companies, and people with property insurance and employment disputes.
In 2025, the insurance company for homeowner Ellen Williams convinced a judge that Ms. Williams was ineligible to make an insurance claim on her policy, even though she spent years paying premiums. Her home had suffered devastating damage from Hurricane Ida. But the judge ruled that under the terms of her policy, only the bank that held the mortgage against her home could make a claim for the insurance benefits. The judge disqualified Ms. Williams from making any recovery, and from even having her day in court.
After this ruling, Scott took over the case. He brought an appeal to the U.S. Fifth Circuit Court of Appeals. There, he argued that the first judge was wrong. The appellate court agreed and REVERSED the first judge, giving Ms. Williams a chance to fight her insurance company and make her claim for the benefits she badly needed to repair her home.*
This was just one of more than 100 cases for which Scott personally fought for the rights of home and business owners who were denied coverage or underpaid by their insurer after they suffered property damage from Hurricanes Delta, Laura, and Ida. Scott enabled clients to make recoveries against their insurer who had otherwise denied or severely undervalued their insurance claim.

Throughout his career, Scott has tried over 40 jury trials to verdict for clients who were injured by auto accidents, pedestrians who tripped and slipped because of a defective walking surface, company product defects, and many others. One of the most prominent was a $30.2 million dollar verdict in 2018 that he won for Norris Morgan, a victim who was exposed to asbestos fibers and developed mesothelioma, a deadly cancer. (Norris Morgan vs. [J-M Manufacturing Co., Inc.], et al., Case No. BC695605, Los Angeles County Superior Court) The verdict earned Scott an official commendation from the mayor of the City of Lancaster, and the 2018 Top Verdict Winner in California for an asbestos-related injury.*

Scott has litigated many cases as the first chair lead trial attorney that each settled against the case defendants for several millions of dollars, including:*
